2005-06 season. We finshed up 12-12 overall and 7-7 in the county. A big improvement over last year. The team was more mature and experienced. We lost 5 matches by less then 4 points.

2005-06 FCIAC Wrestling Championships Results

TEAM SCORES: Danbury 256.5, Trumbull 175, Fairfield Warde 135.5, Greenwich 131.5, Stamford 124, Ridgefield 103, Fairfield Ludlowe 86.5, New Canaan 76.5, Westhill 76, Norwalk 69, Staples 67, Wilton and Bridgeport 46, Darien 26, Brien McMahon 22.

We had a very good tournament and finished about as well as we could have. As a team we finished 7th with 86.5 points. This was much better then 15th last year. We placed 6 wrestlers in all. Last year we placed only 2.

At 125 lbs Rowan Hines (Jr) won the Tournament with a 4-1 win over Tucker Schaefer of Danbury. Rowan was 1st seed. This was one of Rowans Goals this year and he accomplished it. Rowan has had a great year, his record now is 29-2, He is the 4th seed for the Class M Tournament next weekend. It would be great to get him to the Open, he needs to place top 4. Rowan had his toughest match of the day against Tim Jaromebeck from Greenwich. Rowan won 5-4.

At 215 Craig Foster (Sr) Took 4th loosing to Trumbull's Moran 3-2 in the consolation finals. Craig had beat Moran in the 1/4 finals earlier in the tournament by 1 point. They were both very evenly matched. Craig was seeded 4th and had the number one seed Platon Koukides or Norwalk in the semis. Platon was to much for Craig and Craig lost by a major decision. If Craig had been in the bottom bracket he would have had a much better chance to be a finalist. Drumman of wilton had lost to Koukides by a major decision also. Drumman and Craig would have been a evenly matched Semi final. Craig is seeded 9th in the Class Ls and has a chance to place, maybe even make it to the Open (top 4)

Our next 4 place winners are all sophomores. To place as a sophomore is a great accomplishment.

130 Colin Donovan (soph) placed 5th he went 3-2 for the tournament. Colin had a tough match in the consolations with Westhills Napolitona. He lost 5-4. If he won this match he would have placed 3rd or 4th. His seed in M States is 7th. He also has a chance to place and maybe advance to the open. Colin wrestled almost mistake free.

135 Adam Donovan (soph) also took 5th he went 3-2 for the tournament. Adam wrestled very controlled matches and beat everyone he could. He had a very nice tournament. His seed in M States is 7th and also has a chance to place and maybe advance to the open.

140 Nicholas Vena (soph) Took 6th he went 2-3 for the tournament. Nick Vena wrestled Hancock of Danbury in the 1/4 finals and was winning going into the 3rd period with a lead. An accidental head but took the steam out of Nick and Hancock came from behind and won. Nick Vena was the 11th seed in the tournament and placed 6th. We new nick was better then 11th. It was up to him to prove it and he did. He wrestled with a lot of desire. His seed in M States is 15th.

189 Pat Osborn (soph) Took 6th he went 2-3 for the tournament. Being a sophomore in the upper weights is very tough. Pat is always wrestling Jrs and seniors who are usually stronger and more experienced then him. He had a good year and placed as high as he could in the tournament. His seed in M States is 14th.

152 Emmett Donovan another sophomore, he won in his first round match by pin to advance to the quarter finals. He lost his next two matches and did not place. But he did score team points for us and winning in the first round was good for a first year wrestler.

We will return 5 County place winners for next year. This is a good place to build from. These five place winners if they work hard in the off season should finish top 3 or even make it to the finals. We would like to place five more next year to make it 10 in all. I think this is a realistic goal. 10 place winners would put us in the top 4 teams. Not a bad goal for a 2nd year program
